IRS Independent Office of Appeals:

Appeals Mediation Programs Part II

You must submit a written protest to request an Appeals conference.

The Appeals employee assigned to your case will use your protest to prepare for the Appeals conference.

Refer to Notice 609, Privacy Act Notice, for more information about how the IRS uses information you provide.

Send your protest to the IRS address in the letter you received within the time limit specified in the letter.

A formal protest is required in all cases unless you qualify for a small case request, as discusses next week, or another appeal procedure.

Next week:  Continuation of the Appeal Process – Appeals Mediation Programs – Small Case Request
